LOUIE
Because she’s a separate person from you. You’ll never gonna get the same things as other people. It’s never gonna be equal, it’s not gonna happen ever in your life. So you might as well learn that now, okay?

JANE
Well, then I get something else yummie.

LOUIE

JANE

LOUIE
What do you mean ‚you get‘? Jane, nobody ‚gets‘ anything.

JANE
She got something! She got a mango pop.

LOUIE
Yeah, that’s— Right now she’s lucky and you’re not particularly lucky. Maybe later you’ll be lucky. Maybe at some poin—

JANE
But it’s SO not fair!

LOUIE
You only should be concerned with what somebody els—

I’m telling you something right now. You should only ever be concerned with what some—

JANE

LOUIE
Listen to me. The only time you look in your neighbors bowl is to make sure that they have enough. You don’t look in your neighbors bowl to see if they have as… as… as… to make sure you have as much as them. You wanna just make sure that they are— (pause, lost for words) If you’re look—

JANE
Can I just have a calcium choclate?

LOUIE (in a heartbeat)
Yes you can have a calcium chocolate. Make sure your sister gets one, too.
