times oblivion

Nation, nation, I fight on your side, but sad to say the oppression continues. Now the word police at The New York Times have banned the word „tweet“. They say it’s not standard English and „… standard English is what we should use in news articles.“ Oh, really? So „tweet“ isn’t a standard English word but „Krugman“ is?

Listen, „The Times“ – if you want to get rid of words no one uses, talk to your cross-words editor, Will Shortz. What the hell is an „alb“? That sounds like something a Krugman would use to hunt Krugs.

The Times standards editor Phil Corbett has stated that „Tweet may fade into oblivion.“ Well, that’s not very nice. Twitter hasn’t banned the word „newspaper“ and those have already faded into oblivion.

[…] So go to Stephen at home on Twitter and retweet that, and if „Times“ standard editor Phil Corbett is watching this, go tweet yourself.
